AI That Elevates Teaching
Not Replaces It

I’m Michael Maring, a New Jersey Social Studies teacher and AI in education consultant. I help schools use AI to save planning time, differentiate for real students, and deepen inquiry and writing with practical routines teachers can trust on Monday morning.

About Michael

I’m a veteran Social Studies teacher and instructional leader who has spent the last several years at the center of how AI actually works in real classrooms, not in theory but in day to day planning, inquiry, and writing.

As a member of New Jersey school district AI task forces and a presenter at the Kean University AI Summit and PD series, I’ve helped districts move from vague AI possibilities to clear, repeatable routines that support teachers instead of overwhelming them.

My sessions are built around the work teachers already do: DBQs, primary sources, simulations, argumentative writing, and differentiation. AI becomes a thinking partner for planning and feedback, not a shortcut around the learning.

Focus Areas

  • AI for Social Studies & Humanities
  • DBQs, sourcing & document analysis
  • Differentiation & ICR / Gen Ed / Honors
  • AI as a planning & feedback partner
  • Ethical & responsible AI with students
  • PD design, coaching & teacher training

Schools & Partners

Middlesex County Magnet Schools

AI Task Force Member • Social Studies Teacher • PD Facilitator

  • Co-led district PD on AI supported planning, DBQ design, and document analysis routines.
  • Modeled AI workflows that generate tiered readings, scaffolds, and writing supports for ICR, CP, and Honors.
  • Helped shape school level norms and guardrails for responsible AI use with teachers and students.

Beyond Prompts: AI for Master Planning & Differentiation

Leaders, Coaches & Curriculum Teams
